Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, made a brief but incredibly poignant return to Fast and Furious in the latest film.

The actor, who played the undercover police officer turned racer in the franchise, tragically died in 2013 at the age of 40.

His brothers, Caleb and Cody, famously stepped in to finish filming his final scenes, with film bosses also using CGI to complete the shoot.

However, Brian made a surprise cameo at the very end of F9, driving his iconic blue Skyline into the driveway for a ‘family dinner’.

While we didn’t get a look at who exactly was in the driving seat, there is no way he would let anyone else behind the wheel of that car.

Anyone else need a tissue after that?

This was briefly hinted at in the teaser for the film, sending fans into even more of a tailspin for the ninth instalment.

Director Justin Lin previously opened up about how he decided to keep Brian’s character alive in the franchise after Walker’s death, explaining that it was ‘very important’ of them to do so.

‘When we talk about Fast 9, this is the first time for me creatively approaching it not as just the one film. In the past, I’ve always felt like, we’re lucky enough to do one, let’s do everything we can,’ he told Variety.

‘But Vin [Diesel] finally talked me into it, you know, when I came back, he’s like, “Well, let’s think about it as a final chapter”.

‘So Fast 9 is really the beginning of the final chapter of the saga. So in doing that I think there’s a lot of room to really place our characters, and Brian obviously is a big part of the universe still.

‘I want to always be very respectful and how we present that.

‘I think that [in] Nine, you will feel the presence of Brian, for sure.’

Paul’s brother recently heaped praise on everyone associated with the franchise for doing such a ‘good job’ of keeping his memory alive on screen, following the character driving off on a dirt road at the end of Fast and Furious 7.
